Went out for drinks with co-worker Anud. Nice kid. We had 2 drinks at Maxwell's in Tribecca, NYC. The place was too noisy with music. I could barely hear him.
I've been listening to Scott Adams' (creator of Dilbert) book How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big.I got it from Amazon.com for $2.95. I already bought the book and loved it.
Also watched his interview with Dave Rubin on the Rubin Report.
At work I've been interviewing internally and did well but haven't received an offer as I may be asking for too much money for my title.
For some reason I don't feel like I've made progress towards my goals and there are only 3 that everyone has:
- Longevity
- $ecurity
- Fun
I've been focused too much on fun and have spent a lot of time listening to Scott Adams, twitter, persuasion, buying books and adding things to my to-do list.
It seems like I should focus on getting the little things done like cleaning up my desk.
One thing I don't like about the medical profession is there is no mention of price while being treated. Only afterwards does the subject come up.
I've come up with a new idea to work on which is a writing tool. Scott Adams has a good blog post on writing, with an example of how the word "already" wasn't needed. So I'm writing software that can look for words that can be removed like "already".
My memory really sucks as I couldn't remember the word "inflammation" or the name of one of my doctors.
Another problem I'm having is having too many books and I keep buying new ones and not finishing old ones. Even when I read a book I don't actually follow its advice. I use the acronym B2A to describe a process called Book to Action. How do you take the information in a useful book like Scott Adams' book and actually do what it says. This is BLSH (Buy Low Sell High).
